Course Format: This course is delivered using a blended training format. This comprises of an online course followed by a classroom-based skills practice and testing session. Both portions of the training must be completed to receive an official Red Cross certification. Course Description: This Red Cross Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers (BLS) course is designed to train healthcare professionals to respond to cardiac and breathing emergencies for adult, child, and infant victims. Consistent with the 2015 AHA Guidelines for CPR/ECC, BLS is the foundational CPR/AED program typically required for healthcare providers and public safety professionals. Course Length: Online course - 3 hours; Classroom-based skills session - 2.5 hours. Additional Course Requirements: To receive an official Red Cross certification, students must complete both the online and classroom-based portions of the course. All online components of the course must be completed PRIOR to attending the classroom-based skills testing session. Please be sure that each student has been instructed to save and print the course generated certificate of completion before closing the course. Each student must bring a copy of the online course completion certificate with them to the class. If the course generated certificate is lost, or was not saved prior to closing the course, it cannot be recovered by SafetySkills or the American Red Cross. After successful completion of both tasks, students will receive a Red Cross Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers certification valid for two years.
