Art Safety for Educational Facilities – Chemical Hazards

UNV-27.2

Art is a creative process. However, some of the tools and methods artists use to create their work can pose hazards. Some are pretty obvious, such as paint pigments, but there are other hazardous chemicals in art studio environments that may not be as obvious. Different art forms come with unique hazards, so artists will need to take the right precautions for their specific work. Learners who successfully complete this course should be able to identify hazardous chemicals common in art studio environments, hazard controls common to art studios, safe work practices in art studio environments, and recommended emergency procedures. This course is designed for students or employees in art studio environments.
